Let’s talk about Analytics and Visualize the data for decision making: using Power BI! In this session, we are going first to have a table talk with Leila and Indira about career development as a data analytics, data engineer, and data science, what they need, and what skills we need to know. After that, we have a hands-on lab for working with Power BI, extracting data from a data source, then clean it and visualize it to show the current situation of the data better.

Customer Success Architect - MuleSoft

When I was volunteering for She Sharp, we did these workshops at high schools where we were running code camps, and we would walk them through App Inventor. We would go to schools, and there were so many girls who didn’t know how to code or what programming was. We would give them an hour or two to work on these programs, and by the end of it they were so into it. Once when I was in these workshops I saw the girl that won the competition we had on the day, and she went on to pursue programming. It was so powerful to see that we were able to inspire someone to even consider this as a career option. I think that’s probably more of a highlight for me than anything else in my career. I never would have thought I would be a role model for someone else, but I have seen cases where just sharing my story was enough to inspire someone, and it’s very humbling and I’m very grateful to see that my journey can help someone else as well, no matter how small it is.

Update on She Sharp

This month we ran a successful event, Women in AI for Social Good, in partnership with AI Forum and AUT. The event had high attendance, and with the diverse panel speaking about their own experience, the event was a valuable experience for all. Photos are available on our website here. We attended the Future Pathways Expo for Schools Out West, and ran STEMtastic at AUT with Girl Guides New Zealand, where we got to introduce even more girls to the wonderful world of STEM. Hopefully we’ll see some of these girls attending further She Sharp events as they grow up into the world of tech.
