September was a month of reflection and excitement as we gear up for our 10th Anniversary celebrations! When we started back in 2014, we were just a small group of 3-4 passionate individuals with big dreams, hosting our very first event with only a handful of attendees. Fast forward to today, and we're celebrating a decade of growth, inspiration, and community! 🎉

To mark this milestone, we're hosting an unforgettable celebration in October with inspiring speakers, delicious food, and plenty of opportunities to connect and reflect on how far we've come.

In September, attending the Women on Boards New Zealand earlier this month was an absolute privilege, especially as a finalist in the Not For Profit category. While I didn't take home the award, I was truly inspired by the remarkable achievements of all the wāhine present.

Check Out Shae’s Journey: Blending AI Innovation with Cultural Advocacy as a Miss Universe NZ Finalist! 👑

If you have been to our events before then you definitely met our ambassador Shae who was featured the “Idealog’s” article this month! Shae is a Master of Computer & Information Science student and Māori tech advocate, who is redefining the role of a beauty pageant finalist as she competes for Miss Universe New Zealand 2024. As an AI researcher and product manager, she's dedicated to using technology to uplift Māori entrepreneurs, focusing her dissertation on developing a neural network tool that predicts business outcomes to support Māori enterprises.

Beyond her research, Shae volunteers with She Sharp, mentoring young Māori and Pasifika students and promoting gender diversity in tech. Recently, she shared her insights on the future of AI at the Aotearoa AI Summit, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for ethical AI development. For Shae, the Miss Universe platform offers a chance to inspire young Māori women and highlight the potential of tech on a global stage.
