What a year it has been! We were such busy bees at She Sharp this month. We had not only one event, but TWO — including our annual Google Educators Conference.

✈️Attending the Google CS Outreach Partner Summit for another year was so special as I shared our 10-year journey. Google’s unwavering support, especially through the Google Educator Conference (CS4HS) for the past 12 years has helped build this amazing community we have today.

📚With this year’s focus on AI in education, I have so many ideas that I cannot wait to bring to life in 2025. A huge thank you to all of the educators for joining us and for our wonderful demo hosts keynote and panel speakers, it was another great day.

🌱November also marked the second time we’ve hosted an event in Hamilton — and what a delight this was. Celebrating Diwali amongst those passionate about creating a better technological landscape is always special, but it is even more special now we’re expanding across New Zealand.

As She Sharp closes its tenth year (I can’t believe I’m saying this either!), I hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with joy, love and inspiration for the future.

The Google Educator Conference is back 🤖🤝

🎉 Last week at GridAKL/Futures Lab in Auckland, the 12th Google Educator Conference (CS4HS) celebrated AI in education! Teachers enjoyed engaging sessions on AI literacy, curriculum integration, and classroom applications. 🚀 Keynote Steve Smith inspired everyone, and our awesome facilitators kept the energy high. Big thanks to She Sharp ambassadors, sponsors like Google and AUT, and all attendees for making it a fantastic success! 🙌✨

Going Back to the Waikato🌱

🎉 She Sharp & HCLTech hosted a vibrant Diwali Special Edition event, "The Role of Technology in Sustainable Development," in Hamilton! 🌍💡🪔 Celebrating two years of collaboration, we delved into how Green Tech drives sustainability with inspiring speakers and lively Diwali festivities. ✨ A huge thank you to Keynote Lara Higson, our fantastic panelists, and the dedicated teams from HCLTech and She Sharp for making the event a success. 🙌🌱 Thanks to everyone for bringing the Diwali spirit and passion for a greener future! 🔎 ChatGPT Search and the AI Search Arms Race: OpenAI on Thursday launched ChatGPT search, positioning the company to better compete with search engines like Google, Microsoft’s Bing and Perplexity. In July , OpenAI announced it was beta-testing a prototype of the search engine, called SearchGPT, and now it’s officially rolled the product into ChatGPT. The feature offers up-to-the-minute sports scores, stock quotes, news, weather and more, powered by real-time web search and partnerships with news and data providers. Read more here.

🎨 Sothesby’s Auctions off Canvas for $1.6 million: A humanoid robot named Ai-Da created a portrait of Alan Turing, which sold for $1.08 million at Sotheby's auction. This marks the first time a robot-generated artwork has been sold at auction, sparking discussions about the role of AI in art and its implications for the future. Read more here.
